New publication schedule

Beginning this week, I am adding to my publication schedule.  I have been posting a new article every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and a picture on Saturdays.  My new schedule will be:

Monday, Wednesday and Friday -  New articles, just as in the past.

Saturday - A snapshot, as in the past.

Tuesday - A tough question for which I don't have the answer.  This will be modeled on Liz Strauss' "Bloggy Life Questions" and are meant to stimulate discussion. 

Thursday - A roundup of five to ten interesting articles/blogs I have seen in the last week - hopefully stuff you haven't seen already.

Sunday (occasionally) - This is where I will respond to the various "memes" that float around - requests to list my five favorite authors, for example.

So, let's see how it goes.  Your visits and page views will tell me if these additions are great or just so-so.  And your comments are ALWAYS WELCOME.

What I learned about business leadership at SOBCon07

As reported earlier I joined 110 other web publishers in Chicago this weekend.  In addition to fun and community, I picked up quite a few great ideas - both on business leadership and web publishing.

I spend Friday and Saturday with the most amazing group of people - 110 web publishers/conversation architects/bloggers.  What a wonder it was to meet some of my writing heroes in person, and to learn from them.

I'll have more on who was there and what I learned, but here are some quick links about the conference.

Virtual Conferenc May 11 and 12

Carolyn Manning was hoping to attend SOBCon07 this weekend, and had to cancel out at the last minute.  For those of you who are not headed to Chicago for SOBCon, Carolyn has come up with a virtual conference.  The conference runs in two sessions.  Both cover the same material, but are scheduled at different times.  Session one runs from noon to 6 pm US Eastern time on May 11.  The repeat session runs from 10 pm May 11 to 4 am.  See Carolyn's site for more information, including how to figure out what time this is where you are.

Death threats are not protected speech

I was going to write a normal post for today, something about how to write headlines that entice readers into your blog or email.  Looking for examples of good and bad blog headlines, I stumbled across this one:

"Death threats against bloggers are NOT "protected speech" (why I cancelled my ETech presentations)"

and knew I needed to change the focus of today's post.  Read Kathy's post and you'll see why.  (Note:  Kathy's post is not safe for kids to read.)

Five things you might not know about me

For some weeks, there has been a game of tag running around the Blogosphere and I've been hoping I would get the chance to be "it."  (Is that sad, or what?)

Anyway, Carolyn Manning, of Thoughtsphilosophies.com gave me that chance.

How smiling works - two views

Carolyn Manning, on her blog thoughtsphilosophies.com, does a cool thing of contrasting two posts on the same or similar subject.  For example, here's one she recently wrote about treating customers well.  Carolyn is a master of this blogging style.

I don't usually use this posting technique, but two recent posts on smiling dovetail so well that I wanted to introduce you to them. 

I'm a lucky SOB

Liz Strauss, the blogosphere's greatest conversationalist, has just called me an SOB (Successful and Outstanding Blogger)!  Each week Liz chooses five bloggers to add to her SOB hall of fame.  SOBs "...take the conversation to their readers, contribute good ideas, challenge us, make us better, and make our businesses stronger."  I'm honored to be one.
